NVIDIA GeForce 3070 Ti Appears Online As Part Of Lenovo Legion T7 Pre-Assembled Gaming Desktop System With 16GB Of GDDR6X VRAM?.
2 minutes read The New Lineup of RTX cards from NVIDIA A completely new and unheard Graphics Card from the recently unveiled NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series is apparently part of pre-configured and factory-assembled gaming desktops from Lenovo.
The Lenovo Legion T7 pre-assembled gaming desktop system reportedly packs a high-end variant of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.
Lenovo appears to have unintentionally leaked a previously unheard variant of graphics card belonging to the new family of Ampere-based GPUs that NVIDIA has just launched.
The graphics card is apparently a premium iteration of the entry-level NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.
Lenovo reportedly calls the Ampere-based Graphics Card the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
But neither NVIDIA nor its partners have ever indicated such a graphics card exists or was under development.
Lenovo Launches Legion T7 Gaming Desktops With NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Featuring 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM:.
The Lenovo Legion T7 pre-assembled gaming desktop systems are clearly marketed to serious gamers and enthusiasts who do not wish to configure every aspect of the computer.
Being a gaming system, .
The Lenovo Legion T7 relies on the high-end CPUs from the 10th-Gen Intel Core Series
The Legion T7 systems feature an Intel Z490 motherboard
Buyers get a choice between the Core i9-10900K or Core i7-10700K processors.
Needless to mention, these are certainly new additions to the desktop Legion lineup.
Lenovo also confirmed that their Legion T7 system will feature the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti model.
Strangely, there’s no mention of such a graphics card from NVIDIA.
The maker of the GPU has neither announced nor even teased the variant in any previous reports or promotional materials.[Image Credit: VideoCardz]The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti is odd but certainly not far from possible.
The card reportedly packs 16 GB of GDDR6 Memory, .
According to the listing for the Lenovo Legion T7 pre-assembled gaming desktop
This aligns with the previous rumors that RTX 3070 series will be offered with both 8GB and 16GB memory.
It is, however, unclear if NVIDIA or its partners will eventually offer the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti model to consumers as a direct retail SKU.
Incidentally, the name itself is interesting because NVIDIA has used the extensions Ti or SUPER in the past to denote higher-end variants of graphics cards which feature a slightly higher Boost Clock Speeds and more VRAM than the standard edition of graphics cards with the same name but with the Ti or SUPER suffix.
NVIDIA Continues To Maintain Strict Confidentiality and Secrecy About Its Products:
As has been the pattern, .
NVIDIA has remained highly protective of the products it launches
Although, major details about the recently launched Ampere-based graphics cards such as PCB, GPU, Memory configurations, TDP, TFLOP, etc.
were systematically available through a series of leaks.
Still, the company reportedly did not inform the partners of the full specifications until the very last moment.
NVIDIA even reportedly withheld the final BIOS for the Ampere series of Graphics Cards
The doubled FP32 SM (CUDA) count has also not been communicated clearly to partners.
This has resulted in a lot of confusion, and some AIBs still list incorrect CUDA core counts (5248/4352/2944) on their websites.
Unannounced Ti 16 GB and Super 8 GB versions for the Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU pop up in Lenovo Legion T7/T5 desktop specs https://t.co/Mv6RDASCcB #notebookcheck #news #tech— notebookcheck.net (@nbc_net) September 2, 2020There’s one more aspect that makes the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti variant inside Lenovo Legion T7 pre-assembled gaming desktop systems different or slightly incorrectly mentioned.
The listing mentions the graphics card packing 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM
This RAM is not clearly mentioned as GDDR6X.
Hence it is quite possible that Lenovo may have sourced a custom or OEM-specific variant of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.
This variant might pack the slightly slower iteration of VRAM.[Update]: The revised Lenovo Legion T7 listing page that offers details about the various possible combinations of CPU and GPU now mentions only the 8 GB GDDR6 variant of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card and 10 GB GDDR6 variant of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080.
Notably, the Ti Suffix has been removed, indicating Lenovo might have erred in attaching the same.
However, this does not mean NVIDIA might not launch a SUPER or Ti variant of GeForce RTX 30 Series of Ampere-based Graphics Cards in the near future.
