10 Best Guitar Tuning Pegs For 2020 [Our Reviews and Comparisons].
There are all sorts of reasons why you might want to change your guitar tuning pegs.
They might be worn out, hard to turn, and all-around has seen better days, or maybe you want a snazzier set to make more of a statement.
Either way, you are going to need a set that actually does the job well.
Tuning pegs aren’t as simple as they look.
Think about it this way, they are responsible for what sound comes from the guitar.
That is a big deal.
They work by creating tension on the guitar string so that once pulled, the string makes the desired musical note.
You may find that you have got to change your tuning pegs as often as every year and a half.
The main reason being that tuning pegs cannot be fixed if they are damaged.
Luckily for you guitarists, you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg these days for top-quality tuning peg, unless you want a vintage set, of course.

Final Verdict.
How To Replace Guitar Tuning Pegs.
What To Look For When Buying Tuning Pegs.
The first tip when buying replacement pegs is to make sure they are the right size for your guitar.
If you fall in love with a set of special pegs that aren’t the perfect size, don’t worry, just take them to a guitar shop and they will custom install them for you.
Be warned that this bumps up the overall price you will be paying for the pegs, in the end, so only do this if the pegs are really special.
Secondly, know the difference between friction pegs and gearing pegs.
Friction pegs are more commonly used for orchestra instruments, and less with guitars.
So don’t get confused and order friction pegs if that isn’t what your guitar requires.
Gearing pegs are most probably what your guitar needs, but if you are unsure, ask for advice or research your guitar model.
In this review, we will be looking at 10 different friction pegs that are good specifically for guitars.
This should help you weigh up what features are more important to you in a tuning peg, whether it is style, ease of use, or durability.
One of the sets we are going to look at will be right for you.

They are the least problematic out of all of the above tuning pegs and seem to last a while too.
They add a quirky, vintage twist to any guitar, although looks are subjective and weren’t the main deciding factor of this review.
If you aren’t a massive fan of the way the ammoon Alice pegs look, or that they come in lines of three, the Gusnilo tuning pegs are in second place.
The Gusnilo are a slightly different design, it comes with 6 individual pieces rather than 2, and is a much cleaner design.
How To Replace Guitar Tuning Pegs.
Here is a really easy step by step guide to changing your pegs.
Please note that some guitars will require additional steps so although these steps will work for most people, some will need to seek professional help.1.
Do your research to choose the most suited guitar tuning pegs for your guitar.
2.
Before you start trying to take any bits and pieces off, unwind the strings from the guitar so that they don’t snap or hurt you.
3.
Using a screwdriver, unscrew the tuning pegs carefully from the guitar neck.
4.
Put the old pegs that still work in a safe place (you never know when you will need a spare).
5.
Gently hammer out the jackets.
Do this relatively gently so that you do not damage your guitar.
6.
Grab your new guitar tuning pegs and separate them into ‘left’ and ‘right’ pegs.
This is to avoid mixing them up and putting them on the wrong way.
7.
Put the new jackets in.
You may need to hammer them in if they do not slide in.
(If you aren’t sure what to do at this stage, please go to the local guitar shop for assistance) 8.
Screw the pegs onto the guitar.
9.
Wind your strings back onto the guitar.
10.
Tune your guitar and start making some music!Older guitars may need extra care when changing the pegs as new pegs are made a little differently these days, so don’t drill any holes in the guitar neck if you’re not 100% confident in what you are doing.
Enjoy revamping your guitar and playing high quality music with your new tuning pegs.
What pegs did you choose.
